Types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence has become a part of daily lives; it is now a hot buzzword. With many companies developing intelligent machines for varied uses with AI, it’s revolutionizing many industry sectors such as none before. With numerous research and development organizations across the globe, artificial intelligence is poised to take the market to the near future. Therefore, while you might be interested in Artificial Intelligence based technology, knowledge about each AI category is equally important to understand the potential of Artificial Intelligent software and hardware for each application.

Category of AI technology

Three different types of artificial intelligence are broadly categorized based on their capabilities. While each category of AI possesses different capabilities, they work in a similar way to provide solutions to specific business problems. Below, you’ll find three types of artificial intelligence. These three types of AI have different capabilities to address different business needs.

Narrow AI refers to an AI machine that focuses only on a single task. It is not a generally intelligent machine, but a weak one, specifically trained in a narrow field such as voice recognition or speech analysis. In short, a narrow I can only do one thing well, and typically that one thing is better at performing that task. This type of AI can be very beneficial in narrowing down a large number of requirements or conversely, the task it was trained for might be too narrow for it to take on other tasks.

Autonomous AI is self-driving AI machines. It operates autonomously without any supervision from humans. It, therefore, differs from narrow ai systems because it doesn’t need to be trained every time its operators need to use it. Autonomous AI is very helpful in providing help to those who need it. For instance, it can drive cars, operate factories, load and unload cargo, etc.

Self-awareness is the second part of the theory of AI. Self-awareness suggests that an AI machine should be able to recognize its own mistakes and idiosyncrasies and be able to change its behavior and learn from its mistakes. This will make AI machines adaptable to their environment. As mentioned above, this ability will greatly help AI researchers build machines that are better equipped to deal with all scenarios.

The third part is wide AI. This is what we call general-purpose AI. General-purpose AI refers to a set of capabilities that AI researchers develop to be able to handle different kinds of business applications. Wide AI already includes self-awareness, self-provisioning, and self-awareness of different types of tools. This may seem to be limiting the capabilities of artificial intelligence. However, this is only the case if we consider the fact that we still have many different types of businesses to solve.

Therefore, even if there are three types of artificial intelligence, each category will still have a wide variety of applications. AI researchers must continue to improve the capabilities of their programs and make them better as time goes by. They may be able to narrow down each of the three theories mentioned here to just a few categories such as convolutional neural networks (convolution involves multiple types of networks that work together), generalized self-awareness, and narrow AI category machines.

As mentioned earlier, artificial intelligence is defined as the ability of machines to perform given tasks. There are different types of artificial intelligence, each class of machine learning and software being superior to the last due to its effectiveness in solving a given task. Due to this fact, we can see that human beings have an edge when it comes to AI and businesses because we already possess the basic skills needed to solve complex tasks. All humans are capable of self-reflection, analysis, decision-making, creativity, and of course, self-awareness. We are thus far behind computers when it comes to AI, which is evident from the fact that humans can do everything that computers can.
